I LOVED the design and workmanship of the ornaments, but some of the Nativities were carved into such dark wood grain on the top layer that you couldn't make out the intricate carving/design of the Nativity against the dark brown backgrounds -- there was little-to-no contrast with the background to show up the design -- It just looked like a dark tree-shaped blotch when hung on the tree. I gave the lighter-wood ornaments as gifts, and I had to throw the rest away. (I had ordered 7 of them to give away to friends/family) -- Perhaps this problem could be remedied by using a lighter-colored background for any Nativities carved into darker-grained wood, and only use the current dark brown backgrounds to accentuate the Nativities carved into lighter-colored wood, so the design will show up no matter how light or dark the wood grain is. Just a suggestion -- it was an expensive purchase to have to throw three of them away. :o(
